In 1990, the total land area of the Forest Fund was 2507.5 thousand hectares or 5.6% of the total land of the Republic (44410.3 thousand hectares), the area of forest and shrublands was 1410 thousand hectares or 3.1% of the total land of the Republic .
In 2005, the total area of Forest Fund lands was 8536.5 thousand hectares or 19.2% of the total land of the Republic, the area of forests and bushes was 2808.1 thousand hectares or 6.3% of the total land of the Republic.
As of January 1, 2015, the total area of Forest Fund lands is 9752.3 thousand hectares or 21.7% of the total land of the Republic. Of this, the area of forests and bushes is 3543.3 thousand hectares or 8% of the total land of the Republic.
In 2005, compared to 1990, the total area of Forest Fund lands increased by 6,029,000 hectares or 340%, and the area of forest and shrublands increased by 1,398,100 hectares or 199%.
In 2015, compared to 1990, the total area of Forest Fund lands increased by 7244.8 thousand hectares or 389%, and the area of forest and shrublands increased by 2133.3 thousand hectares or 251%.
The total land area of forestry in the system of the General Directorate of Forestry is 9140.6 thousand hectares, of which 7919.6 thousand hectares (87 percent) are desert areas, 939.8 thousand hectares (10 percent ) mountain area, 173.6 thousand hectares (1.9 percent) valley area, 107.5 thousand hectares (1.2 percent) correspond to forest areas.
The total forest fund is 4043.2 thousand hectares (44 percent) of forests, 699 hectares (0.01 percent) of forest nurseries, 1613 hectares (0.02 percent) of gardens and vineyards, 7761 hectares (0 .08 percent) consists of arable cropland and 5087 thousand hectares (55.6 percent) of other land.
Arable land irrigated by forestry is mainly planted with forest nurseries and medicinal crops, and agricultural land is mainly irrigated with newly planted orchards and new forests between rows, pistachios and other droughts. hardy trees and shrubs are being planted and cared for in drought-free and dry lands.
