The 2023 season of the big project in the Aral Bay region has been launched

In recent years, extensive work has been carried out aimed at mitigating the negative consequences of the construction of the Aral Sea, establishing green covers on the dry bottom of the sea, socio-economic development of the Aral Bay region, and further improving the living standards of the population.

It is worth mentioning that, on the direct initiative of the head of our state, large-scale works are being carried out on the construction of "green covers" - protective forests on the dry bottom of the Aral Sea. , green covers of salt and drought-resistant plants such as cherkes, sugarcane were established.

In order to systematically continue these works, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 18, 2022 "Additional measures to establish "green covers" - protective forests on the dry bottom of the Aral Sea and in the coastal regions In order to ensure the implementation of the decision No. 31, large-scale measures aimed at preventing global environmental problems and improving the socio-economic lifestyle of the population are being carried out in the dry area of the Aral Sea.

In particular, in 2022, 107,000 hectares of "green cover" of saxovol and other desert plants were established. More than 590 tons of seeds of desert plants were collected. 100 hectares of saxovull and other desert plant nurseries were established. 635 workers, 250 units of high-performance tractors and 2 units of small aviation (AN-2) were involved to perform these works.

It is noteworthy that the established "green covers" are constantly monitored by field scientists, and good results are being achieved in terms of the greening of desert plants.

The adoption of Cabinet of Ministers Decree No. 25-F on January 20, 2023 on financing the construction of "green pavements" in 2023 is of great importance in the qualitative continuation of work aimed at improving the environmental situation in the Aral Bay region.

On January 31 of this year, an event was organized on the dry bottom of the Aral Sea before the start of the 2023 saxophone planting season. The event was attended by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Dzhokorg Council of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, activists of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, representatives of the general public, youth, ecologists and foresters. The participants recognized the work carried out by our country in recent years in creating a saxophone field in the dry bottom of the Aral Sea, reducing the risk of desertification, and creating living conditions for the residents of the Aral Sea region.

After that, the 2023 season of this big project was started.

For information, it should be said that in 2023, it is planned to establish "green covers" on an area of 100,000 hectares, which are considered protective forests. A total of 420 tons of seeds of desert plants such as saksovol, sugarcane, and blackberry will be collected for the construction of these "green covers". It is planned to establish nurseries of saxovol and other desert plants on 100 hectares of land. Necessary amount of equipment and mechanisms, specialists and workers will be involved for implementation of forest reclamation activities.
