Today, the waste problem worries not only Uzbekistan, but the people of the whole world.
According to the analysis, household and industrial waste has been increasing year by year in recent years. Especially in the 21st century, the increase in the volume of household waste began to have a very negative impact on environmental stability.
On the initiative of the Ministry of Natural Resources, a cleaning campaign was held today in connection with the "International Day of Zero Waste".
It should be noted that last year, the Republic of Turkey together with 105 countries put forward the initiative to adopt a resolution on setting the World Zero Waste Day, and the United Nations General Assembly, at its 77th session on December 14, 2022, declared March 30 as "International Day". of Zero Waste"" ("International Zero Waste Day"). It should be noted that International Day of Zero Waste promotes sustainable consumption and production models, supports the transition of society to circularity and zero waste initiatives 2030 Sustainable Development Day aimed at raising awareness of how to contribute to the promotion of the order. The waste sector is a major contributor to the triple planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity and nature loss, and pollution. Humanity generates approximately 2.24 billion tons of solid waste each year, of which only 55 percent is managed in controlled facilities. An estimated 931 million tons of food is lost or wasted each year, and up to 14 million tons of plastic waste enter aquatic ecosystems.
Zero-waste initiatives help manage waste, minimize and prevent waste, address the triple planetary crisis, protect the environment, improve food security, and improve human health and well-being.
