A briefing was held at the Information Mass Communication Agency with the participation of Otabek Ashurov, the head of the information service of the Forestry Agency.

It is noted that, according to the legislation established in our country, improving the ecological situation, reducing the negative impact of sand, salt and dust particles rising from the dry bottom of the Aral Sea and the Aral Bay region, "green coverings" of desert plants in these areas all measures are being implemented in order to consistently continue the construction work and further mitigate the negative effects of global climate change.

In particular, in 2022, "green covers" of saxovul and other desert plants were established on an area of 107,000 hectares. A total of 590.3 tons, of which 391 tons of seeds of desert plants were collected by local residents, 100 hectares of saxovol and other desert plants were established as nurseries, and 635 workers, 250 high-performance tractors and 2 units of small aviation (AN-2) were involved.

Also, these established "green covers" are constantly monitored by field scientists, and good results are being achieved regarding the greening of desert plants.

This year, protective forests of "green covers" will be established on an area of 100,000 hectares. A total of 420 tons of seeds of desert plants such as saksovuly, sugarcane, blackberry will be collected to build these "green covers" and fill in the gap. On the 100-hectare area, nurseries of saxophone and other desert plants will be established. Necessary amount of equipment and mechanisms, experts and workers, as well as voluntary population will be involved for implementation of forest reclamation activities.

This year, a total of 25 billion soums will be required to build "green covers" on the dry bottom of the Aral Sea.

5 billion soums from the Fund for the Implementation of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Waste-related Works, 5 billion soums from the Forestry Development Fund, 5 billion from joint-stock commercial banks in terms of funding sources soums, 10 billion soums will be allocated from the overrun part of the republican budget of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. In addition, it is planned to allocate 5.5 billion soums from the reserve fund of the Cabinet of Ministers for the existing debts of the past years.

In addition, 50 thousand hectares of Navoi region, 40 thousand hectares of Bukhara region and 11 thousand hectares of Khorezm region were built.
