Yesterday, an international forum was held at the Central Asian University for the Study of Environment and Climate Change (Green University) on the occasion of March 21 - the "International Day of Forests". The forum was attended by Aziz Abduhakimov, Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, Erkin Muhiddinov, Director of the Forestry Agency, Sherzod Tokhtaboyev, Deputy Prosecutor General, Khairullo Gapporov, Chairman of the Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, industry workers, international experts and representatives of the media.

Opening the forum, the Minister of Ecology A. Abduhakimov touched upon the work being carried out in the field to establish forests in our country and increase the level of greenery. He also noted that expanding and restoring forest areas is more important than ever today, and protecting the environment is everyone's duty.

“It is worth noting that, at the initiative of the head of state, large-scale reforms are being implemented in our country aimed at improving the ecology, in particular, preserving and increasing forests. In particular, we are urging everyone to plant more trees, we are constantly talking about the importance of preserving trees. We have also directly involved young people in this, recently we have trained and are involving young volunteers in tree registration. That is, increasing forests is the environmental responsibility and duty of not only one organization or one person, but the entire community. Only by working together can we achieve the desired result,” said A. Abduhakimov.

The Minister sincerely congratulated the employees working in the forestry sector on this date and wished them success in their future activities.

Speaking at the forum, Deputy Prosecutor General Sherzod Tokhtaboyev also congratulated the industry’s volunteers on the holiday and wished them great success in their work. At the same time, he expressed confidence that cooperation in environmental protection will be more effective.

Speaking at the event, Erkin Muhiddinov, Director of the Forestry Agency, noted the great work being done in forestry, the services provided by foresters in preventing desertification and restoring forests.

“Today, due to climate change, desertification and environmental problems, the issue of forest conservation is becoming more urgent. Ensuring ecological stability, consistent management of forestry, establishing new forests, preserving and restoring existing ones remain important tasks. Taking this opportunity, I would like to sincerely congratulate our selfless colleagues who have been working in the field on the International Day of Forests,” said E. Muhiddinov.

After that, 43 employees who have been working effectively in the field for many years were awarded the “Forest Veteran” badge and the “Ecology Devotee” certificate of honor.

It should be noted that in 2024, the Forestry Agency under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change carried out a number of positive works in our country to expand the area of ​​forests, increase the level of greenery, combat the problems of climate change and mitigate their negative consequences, and prevent desertification. This year, these efforts are being systematically implemented according to the established plan.

During the negotiations that continued via the zoom platform within the framework of the international forum, the Director of the Forestry Agency of the Russian Federation, Ivan Vasilyevich Sovetnikov, spoke about cooperation projects and sincerely congratulated everyone on the International Day of Forests.

Lapars, which are considered an example of folklore art, were also performed at the forum. Exhibitions of medicinal and other products grown by foresters were organized. The play "The Tree Planted by Father" staged by director Tojiboy Isroilov, which was shown during the event, left a warm impression on everyone. At the end of the forum, A. Abduhakimov and Deputy Prosecutor General Sh. Tokhtaboyev planted a tree in the university courtyard.
