Humanity has been using nature's blessings for the treatment of diseases since ancient times. Regarding the use of medicinal plants for medical purposes, Abu Ali ibn Sina in his work "Al-Qanun" provided information about the medicinal properties of about 476 plants and the methods of their use.

There are different types of plants in all regions of our country. Currently, more than 4500 plant species have been identified. About 750 of them are medicinal. Of these, about 120 species of plants grown in natural conditions and cultivated are used in scientific and folk medicine. 47% of medicines used in medicine are obtained from plant raw materials.

In 2023, plantations of 65 types of medicinal plants were established on an area of 5,280 hectares in the region for planting and growing medicinal plants. The task of preparing 9,042 tons of medicinal and edible plant raw materials was set, and in practice, 9,062 tons or 100.2 percent of the task was fulfilled. Marketing studies were conducted on domestic and foreign market demand for medicinal plants, and according to the results, proposals were submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture and the Forestry Agency for the placement of medicinal plant crops for 2024. .

In addition, during the past years, we cooperated with "NUSRAT EKSIM" LLC on the export of raw materials of medicinal plants grown in clusters, and "O Memorandums of cooperation were signed with "RMONCHA-CAPERS" LLC, with "Paradise Flora LLC" on processing and export of raw materials of medicinal plants, and with "Agro servis estate service LLC" on lavender plant cultivation and extraction of essential oil. "Paradise flora LLC cluster exported 30 tons of medicinal plants grown on the lands of the forest fund worth 51.5 thousand US dollars. Together with the German International Cooperation Society (GIZ), a plantation of namatak medicinal plant was established on 5 hectares of land of Khojayli State Forestry of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

In cooperation with the scientific-research institute of plant genetic resources, a gene bank for the storage of seeds of medicinal and food plants was established at the base of the institute, and the seeds of 47 types of naturally growing medicinal plants were sent to the laboratory of the Center for scientific research. were brought from different regions of our republic.

A scientific expedition consisting of scientific staff and forestry specialists of the Scientific and Production Center for Cultivation and Processing of Medicinal Plants was organized, including medicinal and food plants growing naturally in the lands of the forest fund of Jizzakh region. , distribution areas and reserves of rare and endangered medicinal and food plants and plants used for technical purposes were studied. Also, electronic maps of the identified plant world objects were created according to the requirements and forms of the state cadastre data of the geoinformation database.

It should be noted that based on the climatic conditions of the regions and according to the submitted proposals, the regional program for the cultivation of medicinal plants in the forestry sector for the current year has been developed and approved by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the regional approved by hokimities and the Forestry Agency.

Cultivated plantations of medicinal and food plants were established on the lands of the existing forest fund in 2023 on a total area of 5,280 hectares. Licorice (621.1 ha), Tajik blanket (1169.5 ha), sassik blanket (84.4 ha), lavender (18.6 ha), chamomile (26.0 ha), namatak (415.4 ha), ravoch (10 ha), dalachoe ( 54.4 ha), sorghum (30.5 ha), deer grass (11.4 ha), plantations of other types of medicinal and food plants were established in the field. A total of 3,602.5 hectares of unforested land of the forest fund, suitable for establishing cultural plantations of medicinal plants in the forest farms of the system, was put up for online auction, of which 1,192.5 land area was allocated for rent to the winners of the online auction in the prescribed manner.
